1UP.com reports that details on the forthcoming Gran Turismo 5 have emerged from a trusted forum poster on Gran Turismo fansite GT Planet. The post indicates that the game will have ‘more’ than 600 vehicles, ‘almost’ 96 tracks, support for user-created tracks, voice chat and of course, online multiplayer support.

Most tantalizingly however, is the revelation that the Duke Nukem Forever of portable driving games; Gran Turismo Mobile is in fact still alive well, and that the game which was announced when the PSP itself was some five years ago (when GT4 on PS2 was the big kid on the block) is in fact due for a release late this year and will be given a proper reveal at E3 in June.

If true, it would certainly add some weight to Sony’s claims that ‘over 60% of their software lineup has yet to be announced’ and that 2009 might well be the much vaunted ‘year of the PSP’.

We can only wait.
