leave a comment »

Capcom has now made the rumour official; the much anticipated Versus mode is due to become part of the Resident Evil 5 experience via DLC. Presently, pricing information puts the DLC at 400 MSP for the 360 version and around £3.99 for the PS3 version of the game, with the content due to hit within ‘the next few weeks’.

Click over to the link at IGN for the full scoop on the new modes:

Hmmm, hands up who thought this feature should have been included with the game in the first place?

Tecmo Unveiling ‘Mystery’ Title On March 24th

leave a comment »

In a brief invite to the gaming press, Ninja Gaiden and Dead Or Alive developer Tecmo, has stated that a new title will be unveiled for unnamed platforms in just under two weeks.

Given the the fact that the venue which they have chosen for this unveiling is typically a Sony stomping ground, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to suggest that the PS3 or even the PSP may recieve some Tecmo love this time round in the form of a Ninja Gaiden conversion or perhaps a new Dead Or Alive title.

More soon.

New Wii Resi Title Is A Sequel To Umbrella Chronicles

leave a comment »

After all the ‘excitement’ regarding a possible Resident Evil: Code Veronica port for the system, it appears that the secret title is none other than a sequel to 2007’s on-rail’s shooter; Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

Leaked via popular Japanese gaming mag Famitsu, details at this point are sketchy, but the game has a subtitle known as ‘The Darkside Chronicles’ and also apparently takes place in the same time period as Resident Evil 2.

More details will be forthcoming from the official announcement tomorrow.

Insomniac Developing Another PS3 Exclusive

leave a comment »

News reaches my ears that Insomniac Games is working on an unannounced PS3 exclusive game, the news comes in the form of a footnote at the end of press release celebrating the fact that the Employer’s Group has ranked the studio as the fifth best place to work in California.

One of Sony’s top second party developers, the talented Californian outfit has been responsible for the two Resistance titles, Ratchet & Clank and the Quest For Booty DLC.

As usual, more as and when.

Resident Evil ‘Surprise’ For Wii Owners This Thursday

leave a comment »

Well it looks like a new entry in Capcom’s long running Resident Evil franchise will be announced this thursday for the Nintendo Wii. Little details was given other than the fact that Capcom has said Wii owners would be ‘very happy’ with this newest entry in the survival horror series.

The current rumour is that Wii owners will be getting a ‘Wii-make’ of Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which came out on the ill-fated Sega Dreamcast in 2000 and was then subsequently ported to the Playstation 2 in 2002 and Gamecube in 2003. Coming hot off the heels of Resident Evil 5, I don’t see how yet another port of an old Resi title is going to make Wii owners ‘very happy’.

Do you?

Bioshock 2 Teaser Site Now Live

leave a comment »

Building up to the inevitable hype machine that will soon take off for Bioshock 2, publisher 2K games have constructed a viral/teaser site of sorts. Aside from anything else, the site confirms the fact that the new Bioshock is a sequel as the events are noted as taking place seven years after those which occured in the orginal.

Hopefully there will be more exposition to follow.

Take a look:

Midway Kicks Out Ol’ Faithful: Mortal Kombat License To Be Sold Off

leave a comment »

Sad news comes to my ears this morning that beleaguered publisher Midway is selling off the franchise perhaps most synonymous with it’s name; Mortal Kombat.

Spawning some seventeen titles since it’s debut in 1992, the series has enjoyed a mixture of cult and mainstream appreciation, with the most recent title, Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe enjoying a warm critical and commercial reception.

With publishing duties for ‘The Wheelman’, also being recently handed over to Ubisoft, and now with the rights to their conrnerstone Mortal Kombat series being sold off, Midway is seemingly trying everything it can stay afloat in the face of it’s bankruptcy, mounting debts and potential foreclosure.

As of this time, no details have emerged on any interested parties for the visceral fighting game franchise.

As soon as I hear something, you’ll hear something.

Worms Armageddon Decade (tentative title) Announced For XBLA

leave a comment »

Expanding on from the somewhat feature-lite 2007 release of Worms on XBLA, comes this new iteration of the popular worm genocidal title.

Tentatively titled Worms Armageddon Decade, this new title is being billed as a “vastly expanded edition” of the original XBLA Worms and is due to include all of the weapons and features of series favourite Worms Armageddon as well as a smattering of brand new content.

Why couldn’t they have given this to us the first time round? Oh yeah I forgot, they need to double-dip and charge people for small amounts of DLC that STILL didn’t bring the feature set in line with the nearly ten-year old Worms Armageddon.

Naughty.

Wallace And Gromit’s Grand Adventures, Sam & Max Seasons 1 & 2 Coming To XBLA

leave a comment »

Telltale Games have announced that Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures will hit PC and XBLA platforms this spring. Echoing the episodic, puzzle solving theme of their Sam & Max titles, Telltale have also promised a revamped control system for the console platform.

Continuing the news of adventuring goodness for XBLA users, Telltale Games have also announced that popular episodic adventure Sam & Max will be heading to the platform early this Summer. Whilst no pricing details have been announced, what is known however is that rather than seperate episodes, the series will be sold as seperate seasons with both seasons due this year.

Telltale Games have also gone on record to say that there are plans for both series to hit the PSN, but the details have yet to be worked out.

I personally see this as good news as this kind of old school clue finding and puzzle solving is pretty much non-existent today, and the fact that it’s now coming to XBLA (and hopefully PSN), is certainly one of the better ways that MS can expand their gaming download catalogue.
