The Amazing Spider-Man 2 teaser is stuffed with stuff

They really need to come up with something a little fresher than The Amazing Spider-Man don’t you think?  I mean literally anything else will do.  Well, nearly anything else.  I don’t want to see ‘Rise of [insert villain]’ or whatever because, well, I’m all risen out and besides there are three bad guys in this movie that Petey Parker tangles with so it would be a crap shoot to see which one of them ends up in the subtitle.

ANYWAY, the teaser for the film is pretty substantial and intersperses the heart-felt/wooden tenderness which is synonymous with PP, with a whole bunch of scenes from what appears to be the movie’s many (and impressive) action sequences.

We get to see Jamie Foxx’s Electro wrecking half of NY in pursuit of his human-arachnid prey, a ‘in a nutshell’ transformation of Dane DeHaan’s Harry Osbourne into Green Goblin V1, 2, 3 or whatever and finally we get a fleeting glimpse at MECHA-RHINO, but enough to convince one way or the other whether he’ll turn it out to be a planet-sized dud or not.

In short, the teaser is a meaty thing; absolutely stuffed with all sorts of stuff and as such, I’m cautiously looking forward to it.

Andrew Garfield made for a charismatic Spidey last time out and director Marc Webb seemingly knows his shit regarding the mythos.

My main worry right now, is the villain count in the film.  The last Spider-Man movie which had three bad guys (Spider-Man 3) was a poorly paced effort where none of the three really got any decent exposition, with Venom in particular finding himself on the business end of a particularly nasty character shafting courtesy of script re-writes and Topher Grace’s limp performance.

Another concern is the CG work looks horribly unfinished and videogame-esque, but we are some five or so months away from GO time so hopefully they can iron out all that rough looking shit by then.

Also, check out the teaser at 1:15; you can see Doc Ock’s tentacle arms and the Vulture wings in a display case.

Catch it below and see for yourself.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is due to release in cinemas in North America and United Kingdom in May 2014.
