leave a comment »

At their GDC presentation, Sony confirmed that their motion control system now known as ‘Playstation Move’, will be priced at $100 and will see a US release this Autumn.

No European details were divulged, but a £70-£90 price point seems likely for the camera/controller combo which may possibly also include a pack-in game of some sort. The Autumn release window, is also expected to be accurate for the European release too.

In regards to support, some 36 titles are being prepped for release for Fiscal Year 2011 which runs from April 2010 to March 2011.

In addition to a separate purchase, Sony have also announced hardware bundles with Playstation Move; the details of which shall be announced at a later date.

It’s not ‘Arc’, ‘Wand’, ‘Stick’ or ‘Comedy Sex Toy’.

Nope, the name that Sony have gone with for their upcoming motion control system is ‘Playstation Move’.

Nice ‘n’ catchy.

leave a comment »

After the pleasing news that the second Monkey Island title would be lavished with the same lovely remake paint that the original got on XBLA, PC and iPhone platforms last Summer, comes the tidbit that PSN and MAC users will at last be able to get their hands on the 2009 remake of the original this coming Summer.

Happy times indeed!

GDC 2010: Monkey Island 2: Le-Chuck’s Revenge Special Edition Confirmed For Summer Release

Now *this* is some good news.

After the deserved critical and commercial success that greeted Lucasarts original remake last Summer, it was surely only a matter of time until Lucasarts confirmed similar plans for the sequel.

Well, praise be to the three-headed monkey as a story ran by IGN today, tells us that Lucasarts have now confirmed that Monkey Island 2: Le-Chuck’s Revenge Special Edition, will release on XBLA, PSN, PC and iPhone/iTouch platforms this Summer.

Much like the remake of its prequel, Monkey Island 2 Special Edition will boast entirely redrawn graphics and art, a new musical score, access to the classic visuals, a hint system and of course, full voice acting throughout.

Additionally, the title will also include a developer commentary which should provide some interesting insight.

No price point was announced when the title releases in the summer, but I would expect it to retail for between 800 and 1200 MSP for 360 folks and roughly £7.99-£9.99 for everybody else.

Hakan Revealed As Final Super Street Fighter IV Fighter

leave a comment »

In the newest issue of Japanese gaming mag Famitsu, Capcom unveiled the final fighter in their forthcoming Super Street Fighter IV title as Turkish wrestler Hakan.

Besides an obvious obsession with grappling with other men and women, Hakan also has a little addiction to body oil. Yes, you see, he uses the oil to make his victims slip around him as he drives them into the floor or, greases them up to be shot into the wall.

Take a look at his introductory video below.

Words fail me to do this particular brand of strange any kind of justice whatsoever:

Turkish grappler Hakan joins Juri, Makoto, Adon, Guy, Cody, Dudley, Ibiki, T-Hawk and Dee-Jay as additions to the original Street Fighter IV roster.

Super Street Fighter IV is due to arrive on 360 and PS3 formats on April 30th in the UK.

Coming as certainly no surprise whatsoever, is the news that Harmonix will be releasing a thrid title in its Rockband franchise.

Known as ‘Rockband 3’, no other details are known apart from the bullish boasting from developers Harmonix that it will ‘revolutionise the genre’.

Smart money will be on the new title utilising the new motion control systems from Sony and Microsoft.

More as it develops.
