Blu-Ray Disc not big enough for MGS4…. so says Hideo Kojima -Worldwide release date announced also

with 2 comments

It would seem that there is no removeable media big enough to house Metal Gear Solid 4, and this little nugget of wisdom comes from the horses mouth, none other than Hideo Kojima himself.

There’s been a lot of talk about how *big* the game is going to be and what masses of content he must be struggling with to squeeze into Sony’s 47GB disc. In reality though, it can’t be the gameplay elements that are on the cutting floor (one would hope not anyway), but rather more cut-scenes and other crazy exposition like oh, I dunno, a weapons dealer with a pet monkey for instance…

More storage space for gameplay? Fine.

More storage space for cut-scenes? No thanks, we’d like some gameplay with our movie please.

Which one do you think will be taking up the most space on the disc when it comes out?

Oh yeah, you guys wanted to know about the release date. It’s currently slated for June 12th in all territories.

Get your Blu-Ray movie remotes at the ready folks.

  1. Oh thats right. Blu-ray remotes indeed.
The talk of it not being big enough is of course utter bobbins of the highest order. But it’ll still be great JP. And whats more, i think you know that. Don’t make me remind you to play snake eater again. I bet you haven’t still. No doubt still hauling back mountains of loot from your last wow raid to be playing a decent game ;O

  2. You know what, maybe I should give MGS3 a proper attempt. Hell, my animosity for the MGS series is bourne pretty exclusively from the trainwreck that was MGS2. Cut-scene banter aside, i’ll be first in line for a slice of MGS4 action, but people are kidding themselves if they think the physical disc space points toward an increase in the volume of content within the game.
MGS however, will always be MGS and this newest iteration looks to be the best from what has been shown thus far. In regards to MGS3 though, is it really worth it? I mean, isn’t the game’s micro-management food system a bit of a bore?
*Goes off to sign up for the next Black Temple raid*
