Eidos Offered Salvation By £84.3 Million Square Enix Buyout
Floundering UK publisher Eidos, known best for their Tomb Raider and Hitman franchises today revealed that they have been approached with a £84.3 million buyout by a most unlikely suitor – Japanese RPG giant Square Enix.
According to Square Enix head honcho Yoichi Wada, “Eidos maintains a strong reputation for high quality development and proven expertise in creating characters and storylines that appeal to consumers,”.
Well, Eidos could certainly accept worse offers, and i’m at least partially intrigued as to how SQuare Enix would go about leveraging the Tomb Raider property. It is important to remember however, that Square Enix has merely made the offer (apparently very good according to a number of sources) and we should hopefully hear something back from Eidos soon regarding their possible future with the Final Fantasy developer.
