Thief 4 Confirmed To Be In Early Development By Eidos Montreal
One of the more popular bits of news doing the rounds today is that Eidos Montreal have confirmed the existence of Thief 4, the latest in the stealth opus series first created by the now defunct Looking Glass Studios over a decade ago.
The confirmation comes directly from the horses mouth; namely the official studio website, with the following quotes:
“We’re in the early development stages for Thief 4, but this is an incredibly ambitious project and a very exciting one,” according to Stephane D’Astous, General Manager.
“It’s too early for us to offer any specific game details; right now we are focused on recruiting the very best talent to join the core team at the studio and help us make what we believe will be one of the most exciting games on the market.”
Platforms and a release window are unknown at this point, but the educated of us can probably assume that PS3, 360 and PC platforms will get a fair shake and that the title won’t see release for probably another eighteen months yet.
More as and when.

First In-Game Footage Of Modern Warfare 2 Appears
NBA and gaming fans were treated to an impromptu treat on Sunday, as Infinity Ward and TNT decided to play a TV spot to advertise the ‘world premiere’ unveiling of Modern Warfare 2 on Sunday, May 24th.
Although predictably quickly cut and swift in duration, keen eyed people watching the 17 second promo would be able to pick out helicopter assault scenes, snowmobile battles and underwater submersible clashes. Visually, the title appeared to be running off of the same engine (although likely modified) that powered the original Modern Warfare and 2008’s Call Of Duty: World At War.
Now we just have to wait, somewhat impatiently, for the full reveal on May 24th.

Developers of Duke Nukem Forever, 3D Realms to close
Many news sources this morning are reporting that Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms, will be closing its doors due to insufficient funding to continue operation. A big part of this story is what will happen to the perpetually delayed (eleven years and counting) Duke Nukem Forever.
Well it turns out that when 3D Realms does indeed fold, publishing parent house Take-Two will retain the publishing rights for the oft-delayed wisecracking shooter. It transpires that Take-Two merely had a publishing agreement with 3D Realms and not any kind of funding arrangement, hence why development on the beleaguered title will presumably cease upon closure of the studio.
The sad irony of all this is that there was actually some hope for the title recently as 3D Realms co-found George Broussard confirmed that the project had just surpassed a key milestone.
Development on the PSP and DS Duke Nukem titles which are being coded by Apogee Software, remains unaffected by this.
