Next Kojima Game Certain To Be New Metal Gear… Famitsu Let’s The Cat Out Of The Bag

leave a comment »

Being the party poopers that they are, respected Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu have printed an interview (censored to a degree it would seem to keep the juciest details secret until next week) with Kojima Productions big cheese Hideo Kojima.

Kojima-San confirmed that not only was a new Metal Gear title in development by the MGS4 team, but also that Raiden will feature prominently in the title. In fact to this end, a picture was shown of an older, cybernetically augmented Raiden. This also ties in with the climax of the newest Kojima Productions site countdown, which has an image of none other than the Big Boss flashing in front of the screen and yet another countdown, this one presumably to E3.

OK in a nutshell what we know about the new Kojima Productions title is this:

1) It *is* the next entry in the Metal Gear Solid series
2) Raiden and Big Boss feature
3) It will be revealed at E3 2009

Roll on E3 2009.

The Next Grand Theft Auto IV DLC: The Ballad Of Gay Tony

leave a comment »

First of all, no, I kid you not.

The second DLC pack to be exclusively released for the XBOX 360, GTA IV: The Ballad Of Gay Tony is due for release this autumn for 1600 Microsoft Points.

According to Rockstar “The Ballad of Gay Tony follows Luis Lopez, the assistant to the nightclub manager Tony “Gay Tony” Prince. In it, players will, “struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.”

Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games offered this statement:
“Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we’ve created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way. The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode’s focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities.”

In addition to this, Rockstar are planning to release GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City, a standalone retail based compiliation of The Lost & The Damned DLC as well as the upcoming Ballad Of Gay Tony for £29.99 in the autumn.

Hopefully we’ll get more on this soon.

Below is the official Bethesda Press Release:

We are pleased to announce that Fallout 3 downloadable content (DLC) is coming to PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete – European Details Revealed

leave a comment »

No. There is no playable Final Fantasy XIII demo with the European release of FF7:AC Complete on Blu-ray. There, now that we have gotten that out of the way you’re free now to go onto playasia or wherever and get overcharged for a largely incomprehensible demo that lasts for about two hours and extra features that are exclusively in Japanese.

For the rest of you, please read on.

The Blu-Ray release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete in Europe will contain:

– Three featurettes: Legacy Of Final Fantasy VII, Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII and Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII and Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII Complete
– Original anime short: On The Way To A Smile – Episode Denzel
– Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete Trailer
– Rerecorded and remastered English dub track

As far as the demo situation goes, Square Enix said that they would not release the demo in Western territories with the Blu-Ray movie as they didn’t want 360 owners to feel ‘left out’, and as a result will be pursuing other methods for releasing the demo in the future. My guess is it’ll be a loooong time in the future, as development work has yet to start on the 360 version.

Those pesky 360 owners eh?

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete is due to be released on Blu-Ray across Europe on 27th July 2009.

The Original Secret Of Monkey Island Coming to XBLA?

leave a comment »

The signs on the horizon are that LucasArts may be re-releasing The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition for Xbox Live Arcade at some point in the near future.

The German ratings board USK listed the game for the console yesterday, causing a little bit of a stir as not only were people going gaga to see the title possibly re-released on the service, but also what the ‘special edition’ suffix meant.

My best guess would be that it pertains to voice acting for the game’s varied and often hilarious dialogue; but with that said, I don’t ever recall the original game waaay back in 1990 ever getting a ‘Speech pack’ of sorts, meaning that any new voice overs would have to be recorded anew.

Originally created by Ron Gilbert (who went on to make a crap ton of awesome like-minded point and clickers in the 1990’s) and Tim Schafer (he of Psychonauts and upcoming Brutal Legend fame), the game was simply enjoyable to play with great side-splitting dialogue, a funny story and deviously constructed face palm worthy puzzles.

I’m not sure what’s excited me the most today, this or the Project Trico trailer.

Anyways, good times! More as and when 🙂
