E3 2012 – Nintendo Press Conference: Batman Arkham City – Armored Edition Unveiled
A point of some pride for Nintendo in their presser was the glut of third party support that the WiiU has received.
One such third-party game that got it’s own time on the stage was the WiiU’s version of Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition. The game has additional characters, mission and content but where it really differentiates itself from the already released versions, is in the way that the WiiU pad is used to activate special attacks and solve puzzles.
Ultimately though, it just didn’t look different enough from the game I played eight months ago on other platforms. The WiiU needs much more unique, propriearty content than ports of last-years leftovers.
You can see the trailer for the game below:
Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition is due to launch exclusively on WiiU as launch title later this year.
E3 2012 – Nintendo Press Conference: New Super Mario Bros U Unveiled With Gameplay Trailer
As predictable as the sun rising in the sky was the probability of a Mario game being shown at the Nintendo presser. Thusly, New Super Mario Bros U was given it’s first public airing in a trailer which shows co-op gameplay, the return of baby Yoshi’s, multiple coloured Yoshis and a brand new flying squirrel power-up.
You can see the trailer below:
New Super Mario Bros U will launch exclusively for the WiiU as a launch title.
E3 2012 – Nintendo Press Conference: Pikmin 3 Demonstrated On WiiU
To kick off their E3 presser, Nintendo dove straight in with an on-screen demonstration of the long in-development Pikmin 3.
The game looked crisp and vibrant with the controller utilised to cleverly manipulate the little blighters on screen.
Take a look at the footage for yourself below:
Pikmin 3 is tentatively due for release on the Wii U launch day, for Wii U only.
E3 2012 – Gears of War: Judgment Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer Escapes
The first real taste of the gameplay to be seen in the forthcoming Gears of War Judgment was released on the interweb a few moments ago.
As well as the trailer that was shown at the conference, the trailer also shows a good deal of gameplay from the newly announced ‘Overrun’ mode and shows a game that remains still very much in the spirit of the games that have proceeded it, despite the change in developer.
Have a peek at the video below and knock yourself out:
Gears of War: Judgment is due to be released exclusively on the Xbox 360 sometime in 2013.
E3 2012 – Persona 4: The Golden For PS Vita Receives A New Trailer
One of the biggest reasons to make the core sit up and notice the PS Vita when it was originally announced, was the promise of a conversion of cult-favourite Atlus JRPG Persona 4 to the system.
Emboldened with new features, graphics and missions, the game looks to be everybit the wet dream that Persona fans thought it would be.
Me? I’ve had far too much caffeine and far too little sleep to adequtely break down just what the fuck is going on in the trailer below.
Maybe you will have better luck:
Persona 4: The Golden is due in Autumn this year, exclusively on Playstation Vita.
E3 2012 – Konami Trailers Castlevania: Mirror of Fate For 3DS
Hot off the heels of the recently released trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 on 360 and PS3, comes a trailer for an entirely new game in the series on Nintendo’s 3DS handheld.
Developed by Spanish coders MercuryStream who handled the Lords of Shadow games on the home consoles, the game looks like a hugely stylish cross of 2D and 3D action, with the gameplay taking place on a 2D plane, but with 3D models and 3D environments.
Not much gameplay is really shown in the trailer below, but nevertheless it certainly looks the part and will surely give 3DS owners something to sort out that Castlevania craving.
Castlevania: Mirror of Fate is due out exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS later this year.
E3 2012 – Sony Press Conference: The Last Of Us Gameplay Footage Gets Shown – One Of The Games Of The Show So Far.
Words really can’t do justice to the intense, desperate and bleak brutality that the Naughty Dog developed title, The Last Of Us, puts in front of you.
The world that our father and daughter protagonists live in is nasty, harrowing and largely hopeless with the level of violence employed being an approximation of what is required to survive.
The gameplay that was shown for The Last Of Us really blew me away; gorgeously detailed environs, atmospheric sound and chatter, a great buddy-style combat system and what seems to be a hugely dynamic and intuitive inventory system.
All of these things add up to make The Last Of Us one of my most highly anticipated games for the PS3 next year and when you watch the trailer below, it’ll be one of yours too.
For sure.
The Last Of Us is due to be released exclusively on the PS3 sometime in 2013.
E3 2012 – Sony Press Conference: God Of War Ascension Gets On-Stage Demo Time
One of the biggest releases for the PS3 in 2013 will surely be God of War: Ascension. Sony obviously realise this too hence why they stuck it on stage for a good long while with some bloke playing it and showing us why it will be one of their tentpole releases for the platform next year.
Focusing on what seems to be the single-player campaign; Kratos looked to be as deadly as he has ever been, deftly wielding his twin blades in violent fashion, but this time, he is able to manipulate time to stymie his enemies; freezing them in mid-air or slowing them down while he moves in for the big fat kill (sorry, I just had the unquenchable need to stick in a Sin City pun in there for some reason).
There is also a hugely cinematic boss fight at the end too; usual God of War fare then.
Have a glance at embedded video below for the on-stage demonstration of God of War: Ascension:
Regarding the above video; I’ll post a HD version as soon as it appears on the interubes.
God of War Ascension is due for release exclusively on the PS3 on March 12th, 2013.
E3 2012 – Sony Press Conference: Assassin’s Creed 3 Liberation & Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified Announced For Playstation Vita.
Sony’s handheld powerhouse, the Playstation Vita, got an AAA boost of support from Ubisoft and Activision who confirmed that PS Vita versions of their forthcoming games would be available this year for the machine.
Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation appears to use the Assassin’s Creed 3 framework, but shifts the setting and character to New Orleans and puts a heroine in place of the usual stoic hero that the games have had up until now.
The game looks very comparable to it’s home console counterparts and will surely be another feather in the Vita’s cap come this fourth quarter.
Look at the trailer below and tell me that it doesn’t impress (if you say it doesn’t you’re clearly a liar and I don’t know you):
In addition to Assassin’s Creed making it’s bow on the Vita, Activision confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified, a ‘true Call of Duty experience in the palm of your hand’ will be available by the time the year is out, but no more detail was provided sadly.
Assassins Creed 3: Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified should both arrive exclusively for the Playstation Vita before the year is out.
E3 2012 – Sony Press Conference: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale PS3/Vita Cross-Platform Play Shown On-Stage
The previously announced Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale title was confirmed to be coming to the PS Vita during Sony’s E3 Presser.
Better yet, not only does the game not look totally shit (not totally), but PS3 and PS Vita owners can fight against each other on the crossover brawler through crossplay.
Additionally, Nathan Drake and the Big Daddy from Bioshock were announced as secret characters for the title.
Have a look at the trailer and on-stage demonstration below:
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is due on PS3 and Vita this Christmas.
