Battlefield 1943 Update: Due For XBLA, PSN and PC This Summer

In quite the unexpected update, it appears that the recently leaked Battlefield 1943 title, will in fact be a downloadable title due for XBLA, PSN and PC this Summer.

Built off of the same ‘Frostbite’ engine that powers Battlefield: Bad Company 1&2, this downloadable entry in the series will allow users to return to the Pacific war theatre in WWII, enabling gamers to relive historical conflicts such as the battle for Wake Island, Imo Jima and many more.

As is the usual Battlefield way, players can wage war using a variety of land, sea and air vehicles, as well as soldering around on foot as a variety of different classes.

Although the WWII theatre has been done to death, there is something about playing what amounts to classic Battlefield in multiplayer that makes the proposition seem much more enticing.

More details are expected from Comic Con where the title will get it’s full unveiling.
