Fallout: New Vegas Announced For 360, PS3 & PC. Due in 2010.
In yet more Fallout related news, developer Bethesda Softworks has revealed a new Fallout title today at a press event in London. Details are somewhat sketchy, but what we do know is that the title is *not* a sequel to the 2008 blockbuster Fallout 3, but instead another RPG set in the Fallout universe which will be released across 360, PS3 and PC platforms sometime in 2010.
Rather than the ‘core’ Bethesda team who are responsible for new Fallout and Elder Scrolls installments as well as DLC for both franchises, coding rights instead go to Obsidian; an RPG specialist whose credentials includes Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 2, Neverwinter Nights 2 and the forthcoming espionage RPG Alpha Protocol.
As a symptom of Fallout’s newly found commercial success, it is not surprising that Bethesda would seek to leverage the property in new directions (see the aforementioned securing of TV and movie rights) like it’s potential small and silver screen counterparts, however, let us hope that Fallout: New Vegas expands the concept in meaningful ways and that the end result is not just another ‘Brotherhood Of Steel’.
More as and when (probably E3).
