E3 2012 – Microsoft Press Conference: Call of Duty Black Ops 2 On-Stage Demonstration Shown

with 3 comments

Perhaps the largest non-surprise of the presser (besides all the social app tripe naturally), was the unveiling of an extended gameplay sequence for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.  The demonstration offered little in the way of surprises that would knock you on your ass, but the new(ish) setting did provide a few new gameplay opportunities such as deep-impact sighted rifles which shoot through the side of trucks and all manner of drone and remote tech to aid you in your latest patriotic mass-murdering spree.

Continuing their precedent of hoovering up time-exclusive DLC rights, Treyarch confirmed that 360 users would get first dibs on day one DLC.

I’ve embedded the gameplay demonstration below, see what you think:

Call of Duty: Black Ops II will come out on 360, PC and PS3 platforms this November.

E3 2012 – Microsoft Press Conference: Resident Evil 6 On-stage Gameplay Demonstration

with one comment

Another game that got the 0n-stage gameplay treatment was Capcom’s Resident Evil 6.  Showing off the series now trademark third person shootery action, mixed in with an (un)healthy amount of scripted QTE sequences, the gameplay sequence nevertheless delivered all of the cinematic bombast that one would expect from the newest instalment in the Resident Evil franchise.

They also announced that the 360 version would be having day one DLC first before any other format.  Swell.

Indulge your retinas below:

Resident Evil 6 is due on 360, PC and PS3 platforms on November 12th, 2012.

E3 2012 – Microsoft Press Conference: Gears of War Judgment Trailer Shown

with one comment

Look, let’s not kid ourselves here ok? I know why you clicked this story and you know why too.

So, with that in mind just fast-forward to 0:53 on the trailer below and you’ll get what you came for.

(Or maybe not, because they didn’t show any gameplay or anything terribly compelling. Great soundtrack though and the idea of bromance story with Baird and Cole-train intrigues but doesn’t necessarily terribly excite)

Gears of War: Judgment is due to be released on the Xbox 360 sometime in 2013.

E3 2012 – Microsoft Press Conference: Tomb Raider On-stage Demonstration

leave a comment »

Another glimmer of gaming bliss at the Microsoft presser (there weren’t that many, so really, you take whatever you can get), was the on-stage demonstration of the forthcoming Tomb Raider reboot.

The biggest surprise of all actually turned out to be the combat system, which despite all of the cinematic QTE bollocks going on around it, appeared solid and satisfying.  An interesting little tidbit was that the first lot of DLC will be exclusive to the 360 version.  Marvelous I guess.

Take a look at the trailer below:

Tomb Raider is due to be released on 360, PS3 and PC on March 5th, 2013.

E3 2012 – Microsoft Press Conference: Splinter Cell Blacklist Unveiled

leave a comment »

Perhaps the highlight of their entire briefing, Ubisoft were on stage to showcase the Ubisoft Toronto developed Splinter Cell Blacklist for the first time.

Displaying a marked evolution rather than revolution of the gameplay introduced in 2010’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, this title showed Sam using his mark and execute whilst running and jumping over obstacles; as well as falling down on top of enemies too.  The game also gets bonus points for including a use for Kinect that isn’t totally nonsensical; here, you can use it to distract the enemy by saying things to get their attention before you do a steathly kill.

Overall, it was very impressive stuff indeed.

Take a look at the trailer below and see for yourself:

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is due to release on the Xbox 360 in Spring 2013. Other platforms have yet to be announced.

Pre-E3 2012: EA reveals then pulls, Battlefield Premium trailer. Good thing we have it here then eh?

with 3 comments

In a little boo-boo that’s quite likely to send somebody to the back of the unemployment queue, feasting on a spectacular diet of Transform-A-Snacks and White Lightning, someone at E3 accidentally published the Battlefield Premium trailer a few hours ago.  Obviously, somebody who actually liked their job at EA has since taken it off the internet, preventing the mass-prying eyes from looking at it prematurely.

Well good job we have it here then eh?

The trailer shows off the primary perks of the Battlefield Premium package which include:

  • Access to all five Battlefield 3 expansion packs
  • Two-week early access to every pack from this month’s ‘Close Quarters’ pack onward
  • Access to twenty new guns
  • Access to ten brand new vehicles
  • Additional dog tags and customisables

Best of all, the server says that Battlefield: Premium is out now; though obviously that is complete bollocks – unless of course somebody else at EA has a OCD for signing unemployment cheques.

The trailer can be seen below:

Battlefield: Premium is expected to launch late tonight for around 4000 MSP/£39.99.

Pre-E3 2012: Bethesda releases a trailer for Skyrim vampire focused DLC expansion ‘Dawnguard’.

with one comment

The best RPG of 2011 gets it’s first DLC expansion in Dawnguard, to be released this summer for 1600 MSP on the 360, with other versions and pricepoints to follow.

In Dawnguard, a vampire-themed expansion, you can either play as the titular Dawnguard themselves to root out the Vampire threat or you can join the brood yourself and inflict carnage and death upon those who would do you harm.

You can also engage in mounted combat, among other things if the trailer embedded below is any indication.

Enjoy:

Dawnguard will be released this Summer on Xbox 360 for 1,600 Microsoft Points.  Release details for the PS3 and PC versions are due to follow at E3.

Pre-E3 2012: Arkane Studios ‘Dishonoured’ gets more than three minutes of in-game footage via newest trailer

with one comment

Every year there is always one game that gets everybody excited, but tends to hover under the radar of all the mass-marketed AAA/sequel stuff that gets spread around.

Dishonoured, developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda, is one such game.  Equal parts Bioshock, Thief and Assassins’ Creed all wrapped up in a lucious steampunk veneer, Dishonoured looks to be a intriguing creature indeed with a unique setting and stealthily ultraviolent gameplay.

To see that i’m not just pulling platitudes out of my ass for no good reason, have a look for yourself:

Dishonoured is due to be released on 360, PC & PS3 platforms on October 12th, 2012.

Pre-E3 2012: Zone of the Enders HD Collection comes out of hiding with a new trailer – reminds the world it’s the dog’s clangers

with one comment

Konami has gone live with a trailer for the quiet-up-until-now Zone of the Enders HD Collection.

The gameplay footage, which can be seen below, is taken from Zone of The Enders 2 and has commentary on it from Hideo Kojima; waxing lyrical on the HD remastering process.

In addition to all of that loveliness, Konami have also released the new, remastered in anime style introduction for the first Zone of the Enders HD title.

Have a gander:

Zone of the Enders HD Collection is due out this Autumn on 360 & PS3 platforms and each copy comes packaged with a demo for Metal Gear Rising Revengeance.
